"One crazy Hallow's Eve"

Films: Trick 'r Treat (2007)

Alias: Sam, Steven Wilkins, the werewolves (Laurie, Danielle, Maria, Janet), the school bus revenants

Type: Natural (Wilkins), Mystical (the rest)

Location: Civilized Area/Forest

Height/Weight: Ranges from that of little kids to that of average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral (Sam, the werewolves, the revenants), Evil (Wilkins)

Summary: Halloween is one of the most celebrated days for ghosts, ghouls, and all things spooky. But even the most fun of fright nights have their rules, and there will be Hell to pay for anyone who goes about breaking them...

History: This whole thing takes place over the course of one Halloween night. We have principal Steven Wilkins, a serial killer who murders children primarily while dressed up as a vampire. There's a whole group of female werewolves anticipating the addition to their clan, Laurie. There are the ghosts of many mentally stunted children whom their parents paid a bus driver to kill them all by driving the bus into the lake. And last but definitely not least, we have Sam, a little child who just so happens to be the personification of the entire holiday, and who has recently been spurned by the same bus driver.

Notable Kills: Wilkins gives a fat bully a poison apple, and...well, see Final Fate.

Final Fate: Wilkins is lured into where the werewolves are meeting, and they proceed to disembowel him and eat him. The kids come back from the dead to kill some malicious pranksters. And Sam only leaves the bus driver alone when he accidentally offers him a candy bar. Then the bus kids come back after 30 years to enact vengeance on the guy. Let’s hope Wilkins' unhinged son Billy doesn't follow in his footsteps.

Powers/Abilities: Sam is immortal, and able to move without his major body parts, which can move on their own. The ghosts are just as indestructible.

Weakness: Just follow the rules, and Sam won't hurt you. The werewolves could possibly be killed by conventional means, but definitely Wilkins.

Scariness Factor: 4-Have some newfound respect for this holiday now? You'd better. Even if we were to take the demonic yet strangely adorable Sam out of the picture, you'd still have a raging sociopathic murderer, some decayed child ghosts in creepy costumes, and a pack of werewolves that rip out of their skin during the transformation. Do yourself a favor, and keep up with the holiday spirit, lest you incur its wrath...

Trivia: -Sam's full name is often speculated to be Samhain, the very first version of Halloween.

-This film was notoriously screwed by Warner Bros., with it missing its planned release date and being demoted to a DVD release due to the studio's reluctance to promote such an odd film. Thankfully, it has achieved cult status, and director Michael Dougherty was officially put on the map because of it.
